Published September 10, 2026 by Tim Tepes
Earlier edition: this post was published September 10, 2026 and its dated events have passed. See the latest Coplay community update.
This is our mid-September community update for Coplay Borough and the surrounding Lehigh Valley, covering the next several weeks of local news, events, and school happenings. In this edition: the Coplay Public Library's book and bake sale, a Lions Club cash bingo in Coplay, Whitehall-Coplay School District committee meetings and kindergarten registration, and a roundup of fall events in Whitehall Township and nearby Bethlehem. Everything below was verified during research on September 10, 2026 from borough, library, township, school district, and event sources; times and venues can change, so check with the organizers before heading out.
If you are planning further ahead, our earlier guides still cover the full season: What's Next in Coplay: Late September and October 2026 lays out the Saengerbund Oktoberfest, the Celtic Classic, SteelStacks Oktoberfest, and the district's fall-break and conference dates, and What's Happening in Coplay: September 2026 covers the Saylor Park races and this month's concert schedule.
This Weekend and Next in Coplay
The Coplay Saengerbund's Friday concert series continues this week with Common Bond on Friday, September 11, gates at 5:00 PM, and the club hosts its annual Joe Kroboth Oktoberfest celebration on Sunday, September 13, per the club's events page. Sunday morning, the 25th Annual Ironton Rail Trail 10K Run and Walk starts at 8:00 AM at Saylor Park on North Second Street. Both were covered in our September guide, linked above, and they anchor a busy weekend in the borough.
Two Lehigh Valley food traditions open next week. The Nicholas Fall Greek Food Festival runs Thursday, September 17 through Sunday, September 20 at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in nearby Bethlehem, with Greek food and pastries, music, and a market. And a designer-purse bingo and tricky tray benefit for STAR is scheduled for Sunday, September 20 at the American Club of Coplay on Cherry Street, a popular fund-raiser on the local events calendar.
Coplay Public Library: Book and Bake Sale
Book lovers mark the calendar: the Coplay Public Library's fall Book and Bake Sale is set for Friday, October 2 from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM and Saturday, October 3 from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM, per the library's events page. It is the library's biggest fund-raiser of the season and a reliable way to stock a fall reading stack while supporting library programs. The library also continues its Wednesday afternoon teen and adult coloring group from 5:30 to 6:30 PM each week; no registration is required.
Borough Business and Recreation Notes
Coplay Borough council meets at 7:00 PM in the municipal building on the first Tuesday for its workshop meeting and the second Tuesday for its regular meeting, so the next dates on the calendar are Tuesday, October 6 (workshop) and Tuesday, October 13 (regular meeting). Meeting agendas and minutes are posted on the borough's website.
The borough's new pickleball courts, which opened with a grand celebration in late July, were built with a $181,900 state grant from the Statewide Local Share Account, secured with the help of State Sen. Nick Miller and State Rep. Jeanne McNeill. The project replaced the borough's aging courts and has quickly become one of Coplay's most used recreation spots, no equipment or membership needed to play on the public courts.
One civic note for area residents: the Whitehall Lions Club holds a cash bingo on Sunday, October 4 at St. Peter's Church on South Fifth Street in Coplay, with a $200 jackpot, five paper specials, and food available. It is a friendly way to support Lions community service work while spending an afternoon in the borough.
Whitehall-Coplay School District: Meetings and Registration
Coplay is served by the Whitehall-Coplay School District, and the district's public committee meetings are a good way for neighborhood families to stay connected to district decisions. On Monday, September 14, the Education and Student Activities Committee meets at 4:00 PM at the district's Education Center, with the Operations and Transportation, and Finance and Personnel, committees following consecutively. The next round of committee meetings is set for Monday, October 12. As of August 7, the district posts board agendas and minutes on Keystone Agenda, its new platform, replacing the old portal.
For families with young children, the district's kindergarten registration for the current 2026-27 school year is still open; children must be five years old on or before September 1, 2026 to enroll. The district's website, whitehallcoplay.org, has the registration details and the full public calendar, including building-level events that are posted as they are scheduled.
On the field, the Zephyrs continue their 100th season, and Thursday, September 24 brings a key home game as Whitehall hosts Bethlehem Liberty at 7:00 PM at Zephyr Stadium. The full fall schedule, including October road trips to Dieruff, Emmaus, and Parkland and October home games at Zephyr Stadium, is in our late-September guide above.
Whitehall Township: Harvest Season and Halloween
Whitehall Township's fall season is ramping up. The township's annual Fall Festival takes over the Whitehall Parkway on Sunday, September 27 with live music, food trucks, and local vendors and free admission, minutes from Coplay. Then comes the eerie season: the township's Haunted Hayrides run at the Whitehall Parkway from October 2 through October 31, and the Whitehall Township Halloween Parade steps off Thursday, October 22 on the Whitehall-Coplay School District campus. Coplay's own Halloween Parade is the other big date, Tuesday, October 20 at 7:00 PM, staging on Chestnut Street and routing toward the Saengerbund, as detailed in our earlier post.
For active families, the township's Aerobostix fitness classes continue on Tuesdays through September at Egypt Memorial Park on Main Street, an easy way to get moving as the weather turns. The township's parks and recreation page at whitehalltownship.org tracks programs, including fall youth baseball and softball at Hokey Park and the football and cheer programs.
A Coffee-and-Errands Loop Around Coplay
Fall weekends are a good excuse to make the short loop around the borough for a warm drink. Coplay's own Coplay Eatery on Chestnut Street is the easy neighborhood stop, minutes from 117 S 9th St. A few minutes away, the coffeehouse scene runs through the area: Taylor Roasted CoffeeHouse on Main Street in Northampton, Blocker's Coffeehouse in Catasauqua, and The Joint Coffee Co. at the Lehigh Valley Lifestyle Center in Whitehall Township. All are independent, walk-in spots, perfect for a late-September morning before a day on the rail trail.
One last seasonal note from the borough calendar: the final Friday yard waste collection of the season is scheduled for September 25, so if raking is on your September to-do list, that is the week to get the bags out. Details are in the borough newsletter.
Fall Living Near 117 S 9th St
Coplay's calendar settles into a steady autumn rhythm, and this move-in-ready ranch twin on a mature corner lot sits right in the middle of it, a short walk or drive from the library, the Saengerbund, and the trail. The covered patio is made for crisp-season coffee.
