What's Happening in Coplay: Week of October 5, 2026

Published September 24, 2026 by Tim Tepes

This is the newest Coplay community update, covering the week of October 5 through 11, 2026 with fresh local news, events, and school happenings in Coplay Borough and the surrounding Lehigh Valley. In this edition: the Easton Garlic Fest weekend, the Allentown Symphony Orchestra's season opener, Lewis Black at the State Theatre, confirmed ticket details for the haunted nights at the Whitehall Parkway, and the Whitehall-Coplay School District items that matter in the week ahead. Everything below was checked during web research on September 24, 2026; times and venues can change, so confirm with the organizers before heading out.

If you are planning the week ahead, the recent guides still point the way: our last week of September edition covered the Lehigh Valley Space Fest and the Whitehall Township Fall Festival at the Parkway, the week of September 28 edition carries the library's Book and Bake Sale and the SteelStacks Oktoberfest opening weekend, and the early and mid-October edition lays out the Zephyrs' full October slate, the foliage drives, and haunted season. This post adds the newest items and fresh details on top of those.

This Weekend: Garlic Fest Fills Downtown Easton

The big ticket of the coming days is the Easton Garlic Fest, Saturday and Sunday, October 3 and 4, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM in Centre Square at Third and Northampton Streets in downtown Easton. Admission is free, rain or shine. The festival packs the closed-off streets with 100-plus vendors selling garlic products and garlic-infused food and drinks, two stages of live music, chef cooking competitions, ticketed tasting events, and a dedicated children's area. It is about a 25-minute drive from Coplay and pairs well with a stroll through the riverfront downtown.

The same day in Allentown, the Crime Victims Council of Lehigh Valley hosts its Fourth Annual Lehigh Valley CaresFest Fall Festival on Saturday, October 3, with a noon start listed at the council's office at 2132 South 12th Street. It is a free, family-friendly festival with activities and games for children, vendors, and fall offerings, and it raises money for the council's free, confidential services for crime victims across the region, as covered by Lehigh Valley News. Event pages note the start time can vary from earlier years, so check the organizer's listing before you go.

In the Borough: Library's October Calendar and Council Meetings

The Coplay Public Library's October rhythm is set, per its programs and events page. The Teen/Adult Coloring Group meets Friday, October 2 from 5:30 to 6:30 PM, the Crochet Club keeps its Wednesdays at 1:00 PM slot with beginners welcome, and Story Time and Crafts runs Friday mornings at 10:30. The book sale that opens the month is covered in our September 28 edition. The library board's monthly meeting is open to the public on Thursday, October 8 at 7:00 PM at the Coplay Borough Office on South Fourth Street.

Borough hall keeps its usual cadence: Coplay Borough Council holds its workshop meeting Tuesday, October 6 and its regular meeting Tuesday, October 13, both at 7:00 PM in the municipal building, as noted in our early and mid-October edition. Residents are welcome at both.

Around the Valley: Symphony and Stand-Up for the Weekend Ahead

Two nights out bookend the week about twenty minutes from Coplay. The Allentown Symphony Orchestra opens its 76th season with "Fire & Passion: Prokofiev & Brahms" at Miller Symphony Hall in Allentown, Saturday, October 10 at 7:30 PM and Sunday, October 11 at 2:00 PM. Pianist Joyce Yang performs Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No. 3, Brahms' Symphony No. 1 caps the program, and the concert includes the Pennsylvania premiere of "Can(n)ons of Freedom."

If comedy is more your style, Lewis Black plays the State Theatre in Easton on Friday, October 9 at 8:00 PM, the venue's only show that weekend. Between the symphony and the stand-up, there is a full menu of October nights within a short drive of the borough.

Haunted Nights at the Parkway, with Confirmed Ticket Details

The haunted stretch at the Whitehall Parkway, organized by the Whitehall Township Fire Department, runs Fridays and Saturdays through October 31, and this year's details are confirmed on the department's Haunted Parkway page: admission is cash only, $15 for adults, $7 for children ages 5 to 12, and free for kids under 5, with Saturday sessions running roughly 7:00 to 11:00 PM. Friday and Saturday hours and scare levels can differ, so check the page before you go.

The township's haunted hayrides in the Parkway run the same window, and the tamer side of the season returns later: the Ironton Rail Trail's Fall Historical Walk on Saturday, October 24, covered in our early and mid-October edition, is a guided family-friendly walk through the area's industrial history.

Whitehall-Coplay School District: This Week and Next

Coplay is served by the Whitehall-Coplay School District, and the calendar marker for families is Friday, October 9, when the first marking period ends, per the board-approved calendar carried in our late-September and October guide. On the field, the Zephyrs, in their 100th season, travel to Emmaus on Friday, October 9 at 7:00 PM; the full October slate, including home nights against William Allen on Thursday, October 15 and Allentown Central Catholic on Friday, October 30, is laid out in the early and mid-October edition.

Two practical notes. District event tickets are sold through the HomeTown Ticketing box office for Whitehall-Coplay, the spot to watch for theater performances and athletic tickets as fall activities ramp up. And if you have not completed the Annual Student Information Update in the district's parent portal yet, the district is still posting reminders on its homepage. Governance moves on schedule too: the revised board meeting schedule takes effect October 12, and the October committee meetings start Monday, October 26 at 5:00 PM at the Education Center, with agendas on Keystone Agenda.

Sundays in the Fall: Farmers Markets Worth the Short Drive

The Emmaus Farmers' Market keeps its outdoor season going on Sundays from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Triangle Park on Main Street in Emmaus, about fifteen minutes from Coplay, through November. It is a compact, walkable market with local produce, baked goods, and crafts, a pleasant Sunday morning loop that still leaves the afternoon free.

When the weather turns, the year-round Allentown Fairgrounds Farmers Market on West Chew Street is a dependable indoor option, open Thursdays 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Fridays 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM, and Saturdays 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with produce, meats, baked goods, and prepared foods under one roof.
