What's Happening in Coplay: Week of September 21, 2026

Published September 16, 2026 by Tim Tepes

This is the newest Coplay community update for the week of September 21, 2026, with fresh local news, events, and school happenings in Coplay Borough and the surrounding Lehigh Valley. In this edition: a cash and gift card bingo at the American Club of Coplay, the Celtic Classic and Allentown festival weekend, u-pick season at orchards and farm markets right in the borough, and the Whitehall-Coplay School District items that matter this week. Everything below was checked during web research on September 16, 2026; times and venues can change, so confirm with the organizers before heading out.

If you are planning further out, the recent guides still point the way: our September 14 edition covered the Ready, Set GOLD run at Saylor Park and the Saengerbund's Friday lineup, What's Next in Coplay: Late September and October 2026 lays out the Saengerbund Oktoberfest, SteelStacks Oktoberfest, and district fall dates, and the mid-September guide carries the library's Book and Bake Sale and the Lions Club bingo. This week's post adds new items and updated details on top of those.

This Sunday in Coplay: Cash and Gift Card Bingo

The headline event in the borough this week is the cash and gift card bingo at the American Club of Coplay on Cherry Street, scheduled for Sunday, September 27 at 11:00 AM, per the local events calendar. It follows the club's designer-purse bingo benefit from earlier in the month, and it is a straightforward way to spend an afternoon in the borough while supporting the club. As always, confirm the start time with the American Club before making plans.

The Coplay Saengerbund keeps its late-September rhythm going too. The free Wednesday acoustic series at Second and Chestnut streets features Roy Ramos on Wednesday, September 23 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM, and the Friday concert series continues September 25 with Stereotype, gates at 5:00 PM and the kitchen open at 5:30 PM. Both are covered in the club's September lineup as published by the Lehigh Valley Press.

Around the Valley This Weekend: Celtic Classic and Allentown Festivals

Bethlehem hosts the big draw of the weekend: the 39th Annual Celtic Classic Highland Games and Festival runs Friday, September 25 through Sunday, September 27 in historic downtown Bethlehem, with free general admission. Billed as the largest free Celtic festival in North America, it fills the Colonial Industrial Quarter with five stages of Celtic music, pipe bands, sanctioned Highland Games, and Irish and Scottish food and culture. Festival details and the full schedule are on the Discover Lehigh Valley events page, and our late-September guide rounds up the other Oktoberfest and festival dates around it.

Allentown has its own weekend activity. The West End Block Party takes over the city's West End on Saturday, September 26, and the Valley Day Festival holds its main event at Riverside Park in downtown Allentown on Sunday, September 27 starting at 4:00 PM. Both are free community gatherings that make a nice change of pace from borough events, and each is a short drive from Coplay. Runners can also find the Lehigh Valley 9/11 Heroes Run nearby on Sunday, September 27 at 1:45 PM at Parkland High School, part of a national charity run series honoring first responders.

Harvest Time Close to Home: Farms and Markets Around Coplay

September is the heart of u-pick season, and Coplay sits right in the middle of it. Gogle Farms on Mulberry Street in Coplay offers pick-your-own apples and pumpkins through the fall, along with a farm store, wagon rides, and a corn maze; call ahead at (610) 262-4275 to confirm what is ripe. Overlook Orchards on Overlook Road in Coplay is another apple stop on the borough's edge, and Newhard Farms Corn Shed on Mauch Chunk Road in Coplay is a long-running local farm stand for fresh produce through the season.

Just across the township line, Whitehall Township's Lazarus Farm Market on Rural Road in Whitehall stays open Mondays through Saturdays, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with produce, meats, eggs, and honey, and it accepts SNAP benefits. Farm hours shift as the season turns, so a quick call before a long drive is always the safe move.

Whitehall-Coplay School District: This Week and the Month Ahead

Coplay is served by the Whitehall-Coplay School District, and the week's marquee school event is on the field: the Whitehall Zephyrs, in their 100th season and first year in Class 6A, host Bethlehem Liberty on Thursday, September 24 at 7:00 PM at Zephyr Stadium. It is a key early-season EPC league game and a fun night out for the whole family.

For parents, the district calendar puts secondary parent-teacher conferences on Tuesday, September 22, so now is the time to confirm your conference slot with the school. On the announcements side, the district's homepage at whitehallcoplay.org currently posts the district's Remote Learning Day information and the 2025-2028 Comprehensive Plan for family review. Building-level events are added to the district's public calendar as they are scheduled, so checking it weekly is the most reliable way to catch new items that have not been announced anywhere else.

A Quick Fall Loop in the Borough

A fall errand loop through the borough covers a lot in a short drive. Egypt Star Bakery on North Front Street in Coplay is the neighborhood bakery for fresh baked goods, and Siam Cafe, also on Front Street, is a dependable spot for Thai takeout on the way home from the games or festivals. Both sit minutes from 117 S 9th St.

One date to have on the calendar soon: the Coplay Public Library's fall Book and Bake Sale is set for Friday, October 2 and Saturday, October 3, 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM both days, with full details in our mid-September guide. It is the library's biggest fund-raiser of the season and a reliable way to stock a fall reading stack while supporting library programs.

Fall Living Near 117 S 9th St

Coplay's calendar is in full swing, and this move-in-ready ranch twin on a mature corner lot sits right in the middle of it, a short drive from the bingos, the orchards, and the rail trail. The covered patio is made for crisp-season coffee and fall evenings.
